😽Curiosity is one of those things which is essential to a joyful and meaningful life. 😽 Learning something new can bring instant joy to one’s life. 😽 We do not need to take a new course or finish books to learn something new. 😽 We do not need to ponder on what to learn. 😽 Look around. Look at your life. What is there? What can you dig a little deeper? 😽 For example, I see a Harry Potter book on the table now. We all love Harry Potter at home and cannot get enough of it. What else is there to learn which will make me appreciate more the genius effort which went into it? How about the three headed dog Fluffy? I find out that in Greek mythology Cerberus was a three-headed-dog that guarded the gates of Hades - the underworld where the souls of dead people go. That’s interesting! So I do some more research and find out all the things in Harry Potter inspired by Greek mythology. Firenze, the centaur is an obvious one. And like the famous centaur Chiron in Greek mythology, he is a teacher and his leg is injured. Now I am digging deeper and feeling the joy of living, reading and learning all at the same time. 😽 When we know more about the stuff in our lives, we get to go deeper and enjoy life more fully. 😽 What can you learn today? I suspect you might have noticed that, other than the stripper heels I sometimes wear in photos 😆, I hardly ever wear shoes (aka feet prisons). Much to my mother’s chagrin, I’ve always preferred walking barefooted and now I’m discovering that it’s actually a good thing….⁣ ⁣ Grounding — connecting with the earth through physical touch — has been found to induce chemical and electrical changes within your body that bring about a boost in mood. While this might sound like some hippie-dippy baloney, science is actually on board with this concept, and recent studies show that grounding not only can elevate your psyche but also can help relieve inflammation, increase circulation, reduce muscle pain and support heart health, according to research published in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health.⁣ ⁣ Your body actually creates its own electricity; your central nervous system generates electrical impulses that instruct your body to breathe or swallow or sprint away from a mugger. Naturally, your body carries a neutral charge, but these days, the blue light from cellphones and computers as well as an abundance of pollution can alter that neutrality, and positive ions in the form of free radicals begin to invade and accumulate your tissues. Extensive research associates free radicals with premature aging, inflammation, dementia, arthritis, hair loss, cancer and even actual damage to your DNA, so it’s in your best interest to evict them as soon as possible.⁣ ⁣ The earth carries a mildly negative charge, and to eliminate a positive charge, you need to introduce a negative one. Therefore, it stands to reason that making direct contact with the negatively charged earth can return your positively charged body to a neutral state. Considering our circumstantial bounds and the recurrent negativity that surrounds it is very easy to get overwhelmed. After all we are human and sometimes we need need a little help grounding ourselves. During an emergency, our breathing rate and pattern change. If you feel breathless due to anxiety, there are breathing techniques you can try to alleviate symptoms and start feeling better. The 4-7-8 breathing technique, also known as “relaxing breath” involves breathing in for 4 seconds, holding the breath for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds. This breathing pattern helps in: * reducing anxiety * helping a person get to sleep * managing cravings * controlling or reducing anger responses To use the 4-7-8 technique, focus on the following breathing pattern: * Empty the lungs of air * Breathe in quietly through the nose for 4 seconds * Hold the breath for a count of 7 seconds * Exhale forcefully through the mouth, pursing the lips and making a “whoosh” sound, for 8 seconds * Repeat the cycle up to 4 times Stay safe and stay home. For the last several nights, I've had little to no sleep. Last night I had to grab my #selenite palm stone to sleep peacefully. I am a super sensitive #intuitive so I have not tuned into the news or media. Even so, it's obvious that this intense #civilunrest in America has made a global shift. I am from #Michigan, and I have heard from my parents and grandparents stories of racism from the late 1940's, about the #civilrights movements, and the riots in #Detroit. So, I can't help to think of this time period as a time loop. You see, #transformation is rarely a straight path. Many times, there are repeated lessons and situations which are presented to give you the opportunity for growth. Not just personally, but as a collective.
