ACTIONABLE STEPS TO DE-STRESS DURING CORONAVIRUS Every day seems to bring more bad news, right? No one is immune to this, and I know this time can be extremely stressful - for everyone, regardless of your situation. I wanted to share some more time specific content, because it's pretty hard to ignore, and spinning into a downward spiral isn't good for anyone. So let's talk stress: Your body doesn’t actually know the difference between immediate stress and perceived stress, and will behave the same regardless. Stress can cause inflammation, it affects our immune system, fertility, our mental health and so much more. Here are a few things you can do to help keep your stress levels down, in a time when stress is probably at an all time high: 🤸🏻‍♀️ Movement: seriously, get up and go for a 30 minute walk, I promise you’ll feel better after. Raining outside? Try a free yoga or workout video on YouTube- there’s endless options. 🥑 Food: Were all panic watching the news and eating peanut butter from the jar, but giving yourself a nourishing meal is going to make all the difference. Aim for maybe just one meal a day that will nourish you- think lots of colorful fruits and veggies, healthy fats like nuts, seeds and avocado, and lean proteins. 💻 Step away from your screens!! In the beginning of this pandemic I was glued to the news. And guess what? I was REALLY freakin stressed. Block off 30 minutes of your day to go down a twitter rabbit hole, or watch the news- whatever you need to feel connected. But then turn it off. Same goes for Netflix or Instagram. Designate some time for it and then step away. It’s so easy to eat your breakfast, lunch and dinner in front of a screen- try stepping away for at least one of them. 🍵 Herbal Teas: there are so many lovely calming teas to choose from! My favorite is chamomile tea in the evening, but even the simple act of brewing and sipping on some hot tea, either before bed or in the afternoon will feel so relaxing 😌 🧘🏻‍♀️ Meditation: If you’ve been following me for a while you know I’m a big fan of meditation, and usually go on one silent retreat/ year. YOUR MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS. Anxiety is high as we move through this time of uncertainty. It is important to make time to look after yourself and maintain a healthy mindset.💛 . Grounding is a particular type of coping strategy that is designed to "ground" you in, or immediately connect you with, the present moment. Grounding is a practice that can help you pull away from flashbacks, unwanted memories, and negative or challenging emotions.🧘🏽‍♀️ . You can use grounding techniques to help create space from distressing feelings in nearly any situation. These techniques may help distract you from what you’re experiencing and refocus on what’s happening in the present moment.💫 . If you or someone you know are feeling anxious, try this grounding technique to quiet the mind and easy disressing thoughts.🙏🏽 . 5-4-3-2-1 Method Working backward from 5, use your senses to list things you notice around you. - 5 things you can see around you - 4 things yo can touch - 3 things you can hear - 2 things you can smell - 1 thing you can taste You should feel calmer and more at ease by the end of the exercise. Repeat the 5 steps more than once if needed.😌 . #foodforthoughtnutrition #mentalhealth #groundingtechniques

Let’s be honest, COVID-19 can be a lot to handle. A lot to process. A lot of change. A lot of interrupted plans. What did it bring for you? It’s okay to acknowledge and mourn a moment that you lost, a trip that you can’t take or a memory you won’t be able to make. I just had a moment in my office where I had to catch my breath and slow down because I was overwhelmed. Take your break. Feel what you need to feel. And please, go to therapy. We are ready to help! #mindfulness #mindful #mindfulnessmakeover #mindfulliving #mindfulnesspractice #mindfulnessmeditation #bestill #selfcare #mentalhealth #coping #mindfultherapist #mindfultherapy #mindfulmovement #copingskills #coronacoping

#silencio #silenciosagrado #yosoytu #tueresyo #aire #fuego #agua #tierra #nativos #observa #escucha #actua #conexioncosmica #mindfulness #mindfulnesspractice

Motivation • Inspiration - At the beginning of all of this it was motivation that said: quick, act, offer yoga, offer something, we all need it. I, of course, was not alone in this. - Now, inspiration says: slow down, return to yourself, you’re experiencing this too, you don’t need to have any answers [because there are none]. - Motivation comes from external sources and pulls you forward. Inspiration invites you inward to connect with your own guidance that then walks the path with you. To me, motivation feels strong (Yang), while inspiration feels soft (Yin). ☯️ - One is not better than the other. It is just up to us to identify what it is we’re actually in need of. Q: Do I need a push, or do I need a break? - We have a surplus of resources motivating us to ‘do’ during quarantine, and they will always be there when you need that push to get you going (to work from home, to cook a meal, to mindfully move your body...). So I’d like to be a resource inspiring you to just ‘be’ today. - @thebirdspapaya said “having time is not the same as having capacity” we are under no obligation to DO all day(s) long. What happens when you put down your phone + take a break from consuming motivation? What does your body, heart, mind actually want and need? - When you pause, your body speaks. So perhaps today all there is to ‘do’ is listen.
